About Us

Our names our Matt and Margaret. You probably know us. We love each other. We met on October 30, 2004 at a Halloween party. Matt was dressed as “White Trash” and Margaret was a “Jolly Rancher” (see the slightly doctored photo to the right). We didn’t start dating then, but each of us thought the other was cute. Matt moved away and Margaret went to law school. Three years later, when Matt returned from North Carolina at the end of 2007, he invited Margaret to come to a fundraiser he was helping to organize for a friend. And so it began …

… After dating for two and a half years, Matt thought it might be a good idea to propose, and he wanted to make it special. Margaret, who grew up on the Upper East Side, had always dreamed of taking the tram to Roosevelt Island. Matt decided he would make two of Margaret’s dreams come true in one day: Taking the tram and getting engaged to Matt.

Unfortunately, a few things stood in Matt’s path on that late July day. The temperature outside was roughly 117 degrees, and the tram was closed. However, the F train provided a romantic alternative, and Matt knew the afternoon would be salvaged by a picnic in a Time Out NY endorsed park. But the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry. Like the tram, the park was under construction. However, instead of aborting the plan, our hero persevered, and the pair decided to have their picnic halfway between an abandoned smallpox ward and the Coler-Goldwater Memorial Hospital. But it turned out to be really romantic. Really.

After a semi-relaxing lunch with a beautiful view of the New York skyline, Matt proposed to the fair maiden, and she happily accepted. And here we are.
